Psychosocial support in criminal proceedings includes the social and psychosocial support of the injured party by way of qualified support across the entire spectrum of criminal proceedings, teaching coping strategies, initiating steps to reduce stress and the passing on of information to the injured party, both during and after the main proceedings.

Pursuant to section 3 of the Implementation Act regarding Psychosocial Support in Criminal Proceedings the presidents of the Higher Regional Courts are the competent authorities for recognizing psychosocial support workers, and are responsible for maintaining a register accordingly.
